Opioid Settlement
Region-Specific Information
| As part of Washington’s work to mitigate harm caused by the opioid crisis, the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has been working on behalf of the state to seek damages from opioid pharmaceuticals and distribution companies for their role in the rise of opioid use. |
Our Role
Carelon Behavioral Health serves as a neutral convener to the Clark County Opioid Abatement Council (OAC) and the North Central Washington Regional Opioid Abatement Council (OAC). We coordinate and facilitate council meetings, provide technical assistance, administer funding processes as directed by each council, oversee reporting, contract management and monitoring, and ensure compliance with applicable opioid settlement requirements.
Carelon Behavioral Health’s role is to support a fair, transparent, and consistent funding process. As a neutral administrator, we are not a voting member of either OAC, do not establish funding priorities, review or score proposals, recommend projects for funding, or make funding decisions. Funding recommendations are developed by the respective Opioid Abatement Councils, and final funding decisions are made by the participating local governments.
