As the Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (BH-ASO) for Washington, Carelon Behavioral Health is responsible for behavioral health crisis services for all individuals, regardless of their insurance status or income level, in three regions:
- Zuidwest-Washington (April 2016): Clark, Skamania en Klickitat Counties
- Noord-Centraal Washington (Januari 2018): de provincies Chelan, Douglas, Grant en Okanogan
- Pierce County Washington (Januari 2019): Pierce County
Carelon Behavioral Health is also responsible for additional non-crisis services for low-income individuals who lack insurance coverage. The BH-ASO structure is part of the Washington Health Care Authority’s Fully Integrated Managed Care (FIMC) model, which seeks to bring whole-person, integrated care to Washington’s Medicaid population (Apple Health).
